IoT Secure MCP Server
Connect Claude to IoT Secure so your team can analyze IoT Secure data directly from a Claude conversation.
What is MCP?
The IoT Secure MCP Server lets Claude securely access your IoT Secure environment using the Model Context Protocol. Once connected, you can ask Claude questions about your environment, review exposure findings, analyze device activity, summarize risk, and prepare operational updates without leaving Claude.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is a standard that allows AI tools like Claude to connect to external systems through structured tools.
When you connect the IoT Secure MCP Server to Claude, Claude does not receive a static copy of your data. Instead, it can query authorized IoT Secure data in real time during the conversation, based on the permissions of the IoT Secure account you connect.

Review exposure posture
What are the highest risk exposures in my environment right now, and which ones should we review first?
Investigate a device
Analyze the device at 192.168.10.45 and summarize its vulnerabilities, recent activity, network connections, DNS activity, and related alerts.
Understand risky communication
Show me devices with risky communication paths or segmentation gaps and explain why those paths matter.
Summarize recent activity
What changed in my environment over the last 24 hours? Summarize important alerts, exposed devices, unusual network activity, and DNS activity.
Create an operational update
Create a short executive summary of our current exposure posture, including critical findings, exposed devices, recent alerts, and recommended next steps.
Check connector health
Check the IoT Secure MCP server status and tell me whether the service is healthy.
Available Capabilities
The IoT Secure MCP Server may provide access to tools that support:

Prerequisites
Before connecting, you need:
- A Claude account
- An active IoT Secure portal account
- Permission to access the IoT Secure organization you want Claude to query
- For Claude Team or Enterprise plans, an organization owner may need to add the connector before members can connect their accounts
How to Connect
Claude Free, Pro, and Max
- Sign in to Claude.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Connectors.
- Select Add custom connector.
- Enter the IoT Secure MCP Server URL:

- Click Connect on the IoT Secure connector.
- Sign in with your IoT Secure portal credentials.
- Review the requested permissions and approve the connection.
Claude Team and Enterprise
For Team and Enterprise accounts, an organization owner may need to add the connector first.
Organization owner
- Open Claude Admin settings.
- Go to Connectors.
- Add a custom connector.
- Enter:

Team member
- Open personal Settings.
- Go to Connectors.
- Find the IoT Secure connector.
- Click Connect.
- Complete the IoT Secure authentication flow.
Using the Connector in a Conversation
After the connector is connected, enable it inside the Claude conversation where you want to use it.
- Open or start a Claude conversation.
- Click the plus button in the message composer.
- Select Connectors.
- Enable the IoT Secure connector.
Once enabled, ask Claude what IoT Secure tools are available or start with one of the example prompts above.
Authentication and Permissions
IoT Secure uses OAuth to authorize Claude. Your IoT Secure username and password are entered only through the IoT Secure login flow.
Claude receives a scoped access token that allows it to call IoT Secure tools based on your permissions. If your IoT Secure account has limited access, Claude will have limited access. If your account has administrative access, Claude may be able to access additional tools or information.
Use the least privileged IoT Secure account that supports the work you want to perform.
Security and Privacy
Connecting Claude to IoT Secure gives Claude access to data returned by authorized IoT Secure tools during your conversation. This may include device names, IP addresses, exposure findings, alert details, DNS activity, network activity, and related security context.
Important security notes:
- Your IoT Secure credentials are not shared with Anthropic.
- Claude accesses IoT Secure through a scoped OAuth token.
- Tool responses may appear in the Claude conversation context.
- Your access is limited by your IoT Secure account permissions.
- You can revoke access at any time.
- Review sensitive results before sharing or exporting them.
Revoking Access
To disconnect Claude from IoT Secure:
- Open Claude Settings.
- Go to Connectors.
- Find the IoT Secure connector.
- Remove or disconnect the connector.
You may also revoke issued OAuth tokens from your IoT Secure account where token management is available.
Troubleshooting
The connector does not connect
Confirm the server URL was entered exactly:
https://api.iotsecure.io/v1/mcp
If you are on a corporate network, verify that access to the IoT Secure API is not blocked.
Claude says no tools are available
The connector may be connected but not enabled in the current conversation. Open the composer, select Connectors, and enable IoT Secure for that chat.
The login popup fails
Try signing in to the IoT Secure portal directly in a browser tab to confirm your credentials and MFA are working.
A tool returns access denied
Your IoT Secure account may not have permission to access that data or operation. Contact your IoT Secure administrator.
Results are missing or limited
The available data depends on your IoT Secure deployment, enabled sensors, telemetry sources, subscription, and account permissions.
IoT Secure AI Assistant vs Claude MCP
IoT Secure also includes an AI Assistant inside the IoT Secure portal.
Use the in-portal AI Assistant when you are already working in IoT Secure and want fast answers using portal context.
Use Claude with MCP when you want to analyze IoT Secure data from Claude, run longer investigations, summarize findings, prepare reports, or include IoT Secure data in broader AI workflows.
